So…your dog lunges, salivates, growls, and barks at strangers, bikes or other dogs? Not sure how to handle this?
Or perhaps you’re a trainer and have come upon such a dog in your classes. What to do?
How do I run a class for reactive dogs?
If you have questions (or dogs) like this, then this seminar is for you! Based on my new book, “Scaredy Dog! Understanding and Rehabilitating your Reactive Dog,” this full-day (8-hour) seminar addresses the concept of Reactivity and teaches trainers and dog-training clubs how to run classes for reactive dogs. The seminar is also wonderfully informative and supportive for owners of reactive dogs.
The outline for the seminar is as follows:
9:00 -10:30 AM Define Reactivity
Discuss stress hormones, genetics, socialization, etc.
10:45-1:00 Teach skills necessary for participation in a reactive dog class -- why use a clicker, targeting, focus, car behavior, tricks. Describe class structure. Show DVD containing footage of actual classes.
2:00 - 3:15 Reactive class
3:30 - 5:30 Reactive class continues, discussion of class structure, wrap-up
Scheduling
Seminars can be scheduled on Sundays at this time. Inquire about making this a full-weekend opportunity by running reactive classes for a full second day, or doing private consultations.
Seminar fee: $750 plus travel and expenses.
Attendance is limited only by the size of the room; there will be a limit of 6 attending dogs. I MUST screen these dogs prior to being accepted as working dogs for the seminar.

Good Dog Agility. It took place at an elementary school in Chandler Arizona. The afternoon sessions (shown here) were held in the school's all-purpose room. The class session took place in the media room so we could show video of some of our classes held in Allentown.
